Medak: Farmers staged a protest at Pragathi Dharmaram village in Ramayampet mandal, over the unscheduled power cuts on Tuesday morning.
The farmers, who staged a rasta-roko on Ramayampet-Gajwel road near Pragathi Dharamaram sub-station, said that they were finding it hard to save their paddy crops which would be harvested in a month due to lack of power.
Since the government was hardly supplying six-hour power to the agriculture sector, the farmers said that they were finding it tough to supply enough water to their fields. Demanding that the government supply at least 12 hours of quality power until the paddy is harvested, the farmers said that voltage fluctuations in power supply also were having an impact as the borewell pumpsets and transformers were burning out quite frequently.
