Farmers of Chinna Kodur set Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwar Raos effigy on fire in Siddipet district on Saturday.
Siddipet: Farmers took to the streets across the erstwhile Medak district minutes after Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao announced that there would be no disbursal of the Rythu Bharosa financial input assistance for the Kharif season.
Farmers in Chinna Kodur set an effigy of the Agriculture Minister on fire in the mandal headquarters to mark their protest.
Earlier, speaking to news reporters in Siddipet, Former Minister T Harish Rao said Nageshwara Rao must rub his nose on the ground and apologise to the farmers in the State. The Congress had come to power by promising to enhance the Rythu Bharosa assistance to Rs.15,000 from the Rs.10,000 given under Rythu Bandhu introduced by the BRS government. However, they could not even release the Kharif installment though the harvesting of the Kharif crop had commenced, he added.
