Mahabubnagar: Despite the Congress government’s claims of adequate stock and supply, farmers continue to face hardships in obtaining urea and have intensified protests across the district.
At the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society in Hanwada, several farmers, including women, slept on the floor on Wednesday night to secure their turn to get urea. They stayed overnight after learning that distribution would begin on Thursday morning.
Braving the cold and mosquitoes, farmers queued through the night in the hope of receiving their share.
In Dharmapur village under Kotakadire mandal, farmers staged a protest against the government’s failure to ensure sufficient supply of fertiliser.
Though police tried to pacify them, farmers raised slogans against the Congress government and demanded that urea be supplied without restricting distribution to one bag per farmer.
