Wanaparthy: Demanding quality power supply, especially during day time, farmers of Savaigudem, Peddagudem Thanda and Peddagudem villages staged a protest at the Assistant Engineer’s office, TGSPDCL, Wanaparthy mandal here on Tuesday.

Holding placards, the farmers raised slogans and charged that since last a few days there was disruption in power supply. Accordingly, the crops were drying up due to insufficient water supply.

Most of the farmers said they were cultivating maize and due to lack of sufficient water supply, they expressed concerns over crop loss. A few farmers charged that power supply was being disrupted since 6 p.m. and restored at 2 a.m in the midnight. Visiting fields at midnight and operate pumps to supply water to the fields was proving to be risky affair, they said.

The farmers also complained that due to single phase power supply they were facing lot of difficulties. Considering the hardships, the farmers appealed to the energy department to ensure quality power supply during day time.
