Farmers stage protest demanding procurement of paddy in Sircilla

They said the procurement process was delayed due to the delay in shifting of the procured paddy to rice mills

Rajanna-Siricilla: Farmers staged a dharna and a rasta roko in Fazulnagar of Vemulawada mandal on Thursday, demanding the procurement and shifting of paddy from the purchasing centres opened by the government.

They said the procurement process was delayed due to the delay in shifting of the procured paddy to rice mills. Officials were saying that they were unable to shift the paddy to rice mills due to a shortage of lorries to do so, they said, asking the government to speed up the process by deploying more lorries.

Alleging that the Congress government, which came to power with farmers’ votes, was ignoring them, they accused local Congress MLA Adi Srinivas of neglecting them.
