Farmers stage protest in dry paddy fields in Khammam

The BRS leaders submitted a memorandum to Chintakani tahsildar in support of their demand.

Farmers and BRS leaders staged a protest in paddy fields at Nagilgonda of Chintakani mandal in Khammam district.

Khammam: Farmers and BRS leaders staged a protest in dried up paddy fields at Nagilgonda of Chintakani mandal in the district on Friday demanding to release water from the NSP canal immediately.

BRS mandal president Pentyala Pullaiah said that paddy fields were drying up across the district as water was not released for the past 22 days. If water was not released for another four days, the paddy fields would be withered completely and the farmers would suffer huge losses.

If the officials failed to release water from the NSP canal forthwith BRS would mobilise farmers and stage large scale protests to protect farmers’ interests, he said. The BRS leaders submitted a memorandum to Chintakani tahsildar in support of their demand.

Party leaders B Venkatarama Rao, G Hanumatham Rao, M Ramesh, Vemula Narsaiah, youth leaders Pinnelli Srinu, Gaddam Srinu, P Edukondalu, farmers Adireddy, Sita Reddy and others were present.
