Sangareddy: Short supply of urea triggered another protest in Narsapur town of Medak district on Thursday. Farmers, who had been waiting at a purchasing centre for days, stormed the busy Hyderabad–Medak road and staged a rasta roko at the Ambedkar statue.
Traffic came to a standstill on both sides of the road as police intervened and tried to persuade the farmers to withdraw the protest. The farmers, however, refused to heed the request and insisted that they would only withdraw if urea was supplied.
Following talks with agriculture officials, police managed to pacify the protesters and the stir was eventually called off.
