Nirmal: Farmers staged a rasta-roko on a road demanding procurement of grains in Narsapur (G) mandal centre on Wednesday. Farmers from different villages gathered and blocked traffic for a while, seeking procurement of the grains.
They regretted that procurement centres were not equipped with gunny bags and grains purchased from farmers were not shifted to warehouses. They urged the officials to take steps to expedite the procurement process.
Due to the protest, traffic on Nirmal-Bhainsa stretch came to a grinding halt. Motorists expressed displeasure over the blockade of vehicular movement. However, farmers withdrew the protest when marketing officials assured to address their challenge at the earliest.
