Farmers stall shifting of a urea-laden lorry in Boppapur of Yellareddypet mandal on Wednesday.
Rajanna-Sircilla: Farmers of Boppapur in Yellareddypet mandal stalled a urea-laden lorry on Wednesday after officials attempted to divert part of its load to another village.
The vehicle, carrying 460 bags of urea, reached Boppapur, drawing around 500 farmers to the spot. After 240 bags were unloaded in the village, officials tried to transport the remaining stock to Gambhiraopet. Angered, farmers demanded that the entire consignment be distributed locally.
Despite Agriculture Officer Rajashekhar’s assurance that fresh stock would reach Boppapur on Thursday, the farmers refused to allow the lorry to move.
Circle Inspector Srinivas Goud and his team later intervened and managed to shift the stock to Gambhiraopet after convincing the farmers.
Meanwhile, heated arguments erupted when Agriculture Market Committee chairperson Sabera Begam’s husband, Goush, alleged that BRS leaders were provoking farmers. He clashed with party leaders Illendula Srinivas Reddy and Lyagala Sathish Reddy before police pacified both groups.
