Father and son electrocuted while removing clothes from line in Kothagudem’s Yellandu

A farmer and his son died of electrocution while removing clothes from a clothesline at their house in Yellapuram, Kothagudem. The mother, who tried to help them, suffered serious burns and is undergoing treatment. Police are probing the incident.

Kothagudem: An elderly man and his son were electrocuted at Yellapuram village of Yellandu mandal in Kothagudem district on Wednesday.

According to police, the elderly man, Enugu Narsaiah (55), suffered an electric shock while collecting clothes from a clothesline at his house. His son Praveen (30) rushed to his aid but also suffered an electric shock.

Hearing her son’s cries, Praveen’s mother, Yerramma, ran to help and was also electrocuted. While Narsaiah and Praveen died on the spot, Yerramma sustained serious burn injuries and is undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital in Khammam.

The family was dependent on agriculture for livelihood. The tragic incident cast a pall of gloom over Yellapuram village.

Local police have registered a case and are investigating the incident.
