Mulugu: Two dalam members of South Bastar’s 8th platoon of the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee of the outlawed CPI (Maoists) surrendered before Sangram Singh G Patil, Superintendent of Police, Mulugu, on Tuesday. They were identified as Mutchaki Joga (25) of Sukma district, and Punam Bhadri (24) of Bijapur district of Chattisgarh.
“As the Maoist party top leadership is not allowing the party cadre infected by Coronavirus to get proper treatment, several Maoists died of the virus recently. Scared of the situation, these two Maoist party members decided to give up arms and join the mainstream to lead the normal life,” Patil said in a statement here on Tuesday.
Both the surrendered Maoists joined the banned outfit in 2015 and were involved in several offences including exchanges of fire with security forces and ambush on security forces in the border villages of Chhattisgarh and Telangana State.
