Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A young farmer and a 20-year-old girl, who were in a relationship, committed suicide by hanging themselves from a tree at Akini village in Wankidi mandal on Monday.
Wankidi Sub-Inspector D Ramesh said the deceased were identified as Navagade Srikanth, a 22-year-old farmer from Ramnagar of Wankidi mandal centre and Elmule Geetha, the eldest daughter of Ravinder from the same locality.
Both Srikanth and Geetha were found hanging from a tree at the cotton field of Srikanth’s father on the outskirts of the village. They went missing on December 27. They allegedly resorted to take the extreme step fearing that their parents might deny them getting married.
Srikanth and Geetha are suspected to have committed suicide three days back, the Sub-Inspector said.
Based on a complaint received from Ravinder, a case was registered. Investigation is under way.
