As the world woke up to International Yoga Day on June 21, the staff and students of Gitanjali Devshala were armed with their flamboyant yoga mats and dolled up in comfortable gym wear, prepared to flaunt and flex.
We were spoilt for choice for the school assembly presentation with two riveting videos, meticulously crafted by Gitanjali Devshala’s elite fitness experts. The ‘Cat Pose’, ‘Cow Pose’, ‘Chair Pose’, ‘Half-bridge’, ‘Fullbridge’, ‘Cobra pose’ and even the much-coveted ‘Sirsasana’ or the ‘head-stand were some of the yoga poses showcased by the students and parents.
Parents show skills If the children were proudly exhibiting their mastery over one of the world’s oldest forms of exercise, could the parents be left behind? Parents also brilliantly displayed their prowess over myriad ‘asanas’ in a facile manner.
The students also called to mind the noble ‘Flying Sikh’, Late Milkha Singh as they paid tribute to him. His life and achievements that brought stellar glory to the nation were exalted unforgettably.
