Hyderabad: A two-judge panel of the Telangana High court comprising Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavli on Monday directed the GHMC to carry out a fresh survey and file an affidavit on action taken against encroachers in Siddiambar Bazar and Mahaboobgunj while granting 4 weeks time. The panel was dealing with a writ petition filed by Lakshminivas Agarwal challenging the inaction of the civic authorities in taking any action against the encroachers in the said areas which are busy markets.

Covid related PIL

The same panel adjourned a batch of Covid related PIL cases to the second week of April. The panel took on record the latest report filed by the State government. Senior counsel L Ravichander nudged the panel to record the role played by the Secretary of Health department in fighting the Omicron wave. The panel directed the State government to continue compliance with the latest advisories issued by the Central Government.

Sale of firecrackers

The Panel directed the Commissioner of Police to ensure that no individual is allowed to manufacture or sell firecrackers without a license in the city. The panel was dealing with a PIL filed by K Kashinath seeking action against the illegal businesses of firecrackers by individuals without obtaining valid licenses. The panel disposed off the PIL with the said observation.
