Karimnagar: Nearly 600 quintals of cotton was gutted in flames when a fire broke out in Murugan Cotton Ginning Mill in Jammikunta town on Tuesday.
According to police, the incident occurred in a process to place cotton in the hotbox of the ginning mill. While cotton was being placed in the hotbox, sparks accidentally fell in cotton stocks and the fire spread across the yard within minutes. The mill management alerted the fire personnel who rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
Cotton mill owner Bachu Bhaskar said that about 600 quintal cotton worth Rs 50 lakh was burnt in flames.
