Hyderabad: A fire broke out at a food manufacturing and packaging unit in the industrial area at Sri Krishna Nagar inc on the city outskirts here on Tuesday afternoon. No casualties were reported in the fire, the police said.
Officials suspect an oil leakage from a boiler led to the fire. Locals in the nearby residential area noticed fire and smoke emanating from the unit and alerted the fire department and the police. The fire spread into plastic containers filled with oil and other chemicals used in the process, due to which thick smoke enveloped the surrounding area for quite some time.
The Dundigal police along with Fire officials used two fire engines to douse the fire. The worth of the damaged property is yet to be estimated.
