Fire guts row of shops at Alwal in Hyderabad, no casualties reported

A major fire broke out at a cycle shop in Alwal’s Lothkunta area on Saturday, spreading to six adjoining shops and causing property loss worth several lakhs. Fire officials suspect a short circuit triggered the blaze. No casualties were reported.

Hyderabad: Property worth several lakhs rupees was gutted down when fire broke out in a row of shops at Alwal on Saturday afternoon. No casualties are reported in the incident.

According to the fire officials, the fire first started in a cycle shop located at Lothkunta, and it soon spread to adjoining six shops leading to damage to huge property kept in the stores. On information fire tenders rushed to the spot and the firemen doused the flames. The officials suspect the fire started at the cycle shop following a short circuit and might have spread to neighbouring shops.


The Alwal police reached the spot and assisted the fire personnel in the operation. The area was cordoned off for a while to facilitate the fire fighting operation. Local public representatives visited the spot.
