Siddipet: A tiger has entered Siddipet district for the first time, triggering panic among farmers.
The animal is the same tiger spotted in Kamareddy district around 10 days ago. A farmer noticed the tiger on Friday in Thoguta mandal and alerted forest officials.
While tracking its movement, officials found that the tiger had crossed several villages. It passed through Thornala, Baswapur, Irkode and Marrikunta in Siddipet rural mandal. The animal also came close to Siddipet town.
Later, the tiger moved through villages in Thoguta and Mirudoddi mandals. Forest officials suspect it entered Siddipet from Kamareddy after passing through Jagtial and Rajanna-Sircilla districts.
Based on pug marks, officials identified the animal as a young male. So far, there have been no attacks on humans or cattle.
Officials said the tiger first entered Telangana from Maharashtra through Komaram Bheem Asifabad district while searching for territory. It later moved through Mancherial, Kamareddy, Jagtial and Rajanna-Sircilla before reaching Siddipet.
Forest officials have intensified monitoring and alerted residents in Siddipet district.
With this sighting, Siddipet has become the 14th district in Telangana where a tiger has been reported.
