Hyderabad: The first Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Standing Committee post formation of the new council was held here on Wednesday. Out of the 20 agendas comprising various civic works and departmental issues, 18 were approved.
The Standing Committee meeting was chaired by Mayor G Vijaya Laxmi in the presence of the GHMC Commissioner DS Lokesh Kumar and other Heads of the Departments in the civic body.
“Due to Covid-19, election code and other reasons, the meeting was not held earlier. I congratulate all the Standing Committee members. As this committee takes important policy decisions, let’s work together and instead of arguing on issues let’s discuss, debate and take decisions,” the Mayor said in the meeting.
The newly formed committee comprises of 15 corporators – eight Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) corporators and seven All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) corporators.
Any infrastructure or development with a budget of more than Rs 2 crore taken up by the civic body has to be approved by the Standing Committee, which is the apex body of the GHMC.
