Five arrested with 2.82 kg ganja in Peddapalli

Peddapalli: Ramagundam police arrested five persons with 2.82 kg ganja worth Rs 2.25 lakh worth and hookah. Producing the accused before media in Godavarikhani on Friday, Additional DCP (administration) N Ashok Kumar explained the modus operandi of the gang.
Based on reliable information, Ramagundam CCS and Godavarikhani town-I police conducted checking at CSP colony in Godavarikhani and nabbed the youths near the old Singareni School.
The youths tried to escape after seeing police but in vain. Police also seized the ganja kept in bags. The arrested persons were Veenavanka Sai Teja of GM colony, Ramatenki Bhagath of Janagoan, Arelli Sai Kumar of GM colony of Godavarikhani, Singireddy Dileep Reddy of Bhagathnagar of Karimangar town and Kotrangi Dattu of Kiridi of Wankidi mandal of Kumuram Bheem-Asifabad district.
Sai Teja, who was addicted to ganja, formed a gang along with others and decided to earn money by peddling ganja. They entered into an agreement with Wankidi based ganja supplier Dattu and used to bring the consignment through RTC buses as well as private vehicles. They used to sell it to students, and youths at Rs 300 and Rs 500 for small packets.
Initially, they make friends with students and youths and offer ganja. Once they are addicted, the gang members sell it at higher prices, the Additional DCP informed.
