“The five individuals tested positive for the consumption of narcotics substance and further action is being taken in accordance with the law,” said an official of TGANB.
The official said to ensure a drug-free 2025 New Year celebration, those involved in drug dealings and intoxication of youth were under strict surveillance.
In a coordinated operation conducted by the TGANB, along with local police, SOTs and dog squads, drug testing was conducted in pubs, farmhouses and resorts during the New Year celebrations.
“The objective was to ensure a safe and drug-free environment and crack down on the use of illegal narcotics in social hotspots,” said the official.
The operation was conducted at multiple locations, focusing on high-traffic areas where large gatherings were expected.
Special teams were deployed to perform on-site drug testing for those suspected of being under the influence of illegal substances.
The joint operations also underscored the importance of community cooperation and awareness in tackling substance abuse.
Authorities have encouraged individuals to report any suspicious activity and promised swift action in such cases, he said.
