Nalgonda: Five crest gates of Musi project were lifted on Sunday in view of the sudden increase in inflows following heavy rains in the upper catchment areas.
The inflows into the project was recorded at 16,517.57 cusecs while outflows were at 13,040.2 cusecs. The project engineers lifted crest gates no. 3,4,7,10 and 11 up to four feet and released 12,567.81 cusecs of water downstream. In addition, 472.39 cusecs of water was being released to the canals. Water level in the project touched 642.55 feet against it Full Reservoir Level of 645 feet. The current water storage level was 3.83 tmcs against gross storage capacity of 4.46 tmcs.
With Musi river in full flow, road connectivity to some villages in Yadadri-Bhongir district was disrupted. District officials alerted people living in villages along the river banks. Road connectivity between Bibinagar and Bhoodan Pochampally was disrupted with Musi water overflowing on a bridge at Rudravelli in the district. Road-users were advised by the police to take alternative routes.
