Nirmal: This Monday would remain as one of the contented days in the lives of five fishermen belonging to the neighboring Nizamabad district as they displayed exemplary courage and rescued three persons of a family who attempted to commit suicide by plunging into Godavari river near temple town Basar.
Basar sub inspector U Mahesh said that the fishermen Bojaram, Srikanth, Pittu, Yogi and Raju of Yancha village in Armoor mandal of Nizamabad district responded immediately and rescued Praveen and his sons Ajay and Riwans.
They noticed that the trio were attempting to end their lives. The five persons were fishing in the river at the time of the incident. “Their sheer presence of mind saved the lives of the three. Else, the three would have drowned,” Mahesh remarked.
Praveen, Ajay and Riwans were admitted to a hospital in Basar. Their condition was stable. They received minor injuries. The reason behind Praveen’s move to kill himself and two sons is yet to be ascertained. A case was registered. Investigations were taken up.
