Hyderabad: The Pahadishareef police have cracked the case of a charred body found at Mamidipally a fortnight ago and arrested five persons including the victim’s wife, her paramour and three others.
The victim, Shaik Adil (35) a businessman, was murdered and his body burned at Mamidipally by the suspects, police said. The arrested persons were identified as Syed Fareed Ali (27), Zoya Begum (32), Mohd Riyaz (21) Shaik Maviya alias Rizwan (28) and Mohd Zaheed (20), all residents of Saidabad.
Police said Zoya Begum was Shaik Adil’s first wife and lived in Yousufain colony in Chandrayangutta while his second wife lived in Rajendranagar.
“Zoya had an extramarital affair with Shaik Fareed Ali, to which Adil had objected. Infuriated over his harassment, Zoya along with Fareed Ali hatched a plan to kill her husband,” DCP (L B Nagar) Sunpreet Singh said.
On the night of October 19, Zoya asked Adil to come to her house, where Fareed along with Zoya, Riyaz, Rizwan and Zaheed, overpowered him and strangulated him to death using a scarf apart from stabbing him.
“Afterwards, Zoya went to her mother’s place while the others took the body in an auto-rickshaw to Mamidipally. They doused it in petrol and set it ablaze in an isolated place to conceal the identity of the victim,” the DCP said, adding that the five suspects were held based on technical evidence.
They admitted to the murder during questioning, he said, adding that they were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
