Five killed as Karnataka bus overturns after hitting bike near Zaheerabad

Five people died and at least ten were injured after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus travelling from Hyderabad to Bidar overturned and fell into a roadside gorge on the Bidar–Zaheerabad road in Sangareddy

Sangareddy: Five persons including two motorcyclists and three bus passengers died after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus overturned and slid down into a roadside gorge on Bidar-Zaheerabad road on Tuesday. At least ten others were injured in the incident

Police said the bus hit a two-wheeler first and later jumped off the road apparently as the driver lost control of the vehicle. The two motorcyclists were killed instantly in addition to the three passengers who were sitting in front side of the bus.

Several bus passengers were also injured in the incident.

Condition of four of them was stated to be critical. Local people and other road users rushed to the help of the passengers and rushe them to nearby hospitals.

The ill-fated bus was on its way to Bidar from Hyderabad, it was said.
