HYDERABAD: Five—K Perumallu, M Vishwaksen, Rishi Pallagani, Ayaanraj Kothapally and Thota Jovenkatraman are in lead in the open category with three points each from three rounds in the 226th Brilliant Trophy open chess tournament at Brilliant Grammar School here on Saturday.

In the juniors category, also five players, Sayyadh Raudah, Sai Kamal, Mohammed Sahir Ahmed, Tarun Sai Thota, and Jathin Reddy Kondeti are in joint lead with three points each from three rounds.


Important results: 3rd round: Juniors: Shyamak Reyansh (2) lost to Sayyadh Raudah (3); K Jathin Reddy (3) beats Samanyu (2); Mohamed Sahir Ahmed (3) beats Shreyas (2); Sai Kamal (3) beats Srikrishna Vivek (2); Tarun Sai Thota (3) beats Sai Tejase (2).

Open category: Kovidh Kushalreddy (2) lost to Perumallu (3); Vangala Prashanth (2) lost to Vishwaksen (3); Rishi Pallagani (3) beats B Mallesh (2); K Ayaanraj (3) beats Sarath Kumar Nanda (2); Narayana Srivathsava (1.5) lost to T Jovenkatraman (3).
