Hyderabad: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a vital notice for medical graduates who have completed their MBBS degree in foreign countries and are planning to appear for the upcoming Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening test, which is expected to be scheduled in the coming months.
Candidates are strictly prohibited from applying for the FMGE without first possessing a valid Eligibility Certificate (EC) issued by the NMC. The FMGE screening test allows medical students who have completed MBBS in foreign universities to practise medicine in India.
To facilitate this, the Commission will open its online application portal on March 2, 2026, at 10 am, and it will remain active until the submission deadline at 6 pm on March 31, 2026.
Candidates who have already submitted an application for an EC in the past are not required to apply again. To ensure quick processing and avoid common mistakes seen in previous years, the NMC has released a detailed advisory urging candidates to fill out their own applications rather than using proxies.
The NMC has advised applicants to keep their original documents handy to verify all entries carefully and to provide an active mobile number to receive timely alerts regarding any deficiencies.
If a deficiency is communicated, it must be rectified as early as possible to avoid a last-minute rush. For those inquiring about their application status via the designated email addresses, eligibility.regn@nmc.org.in or eligibility@nmc.org.in.
