Mulugu: A few students fell ill due to suspected food poisoning at the Tribal Welfare Residential Girls Junior College at Eturunagaram in the district on Wednesday night.
The students were rushed to a local hospital after suffering from vomiting and diarrhoea. After receiving treatment, they were discharged the same day.
Interestingly, the incident occurred barely two days after Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed District Collectors to closely monitor the quality of food being served in government educational institutions. The Chief Minister had once again instructed District Collectors to have mid-day meals along with students in a government school at least once a week.
“One officer should be entrusted with the responsibility of mid-day meals in each school. That officer should have lunch at the school along with the students,” he had said.
Similar instructions had been issued in the past as well, but they were hardly followed by the Collectors and other officials.
