Food poisoning in Mancherial: Bellampalli MJP College principal, deputy warden suspended
The principal and deputy warden of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential College in Bellampalli were suspended after more than 20 students fell ill following a hostel dinner. An inquiry found negligence in hostel management, prompting disciplinary action against the two officials
Mancherial: The principal and deputy warden of the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Residential College in Bellampalli were suspended following a food poisoning incident in which more than 20 students were hospitalised after having dinner at the institution’s hostel recently. An order to this effect was issued by MJP Educational Institutions Secretary B Saidulu on Saturday.
As per the order, the college principal, Rama Devi, and deputy warden Sujatha were suspended. An inquiry was initiated into the food poisoning incident, and officials submitted a report to the higher authorities. Based on the findings of the report, action was initiated against the two officials, holding them responsible for the incident. They were reportedly found to have been negligent in the management of the hostel.
On July 22, more than 20 students experienced vomiting and stomach pain after having dinner at around 9 pm. They were immediately shifted to a hospital and were discharged later that night after receiving treatment. According to officials, the students complained of vomiting and stomach pain following the meal and were admitted for treatment before being discharged.
