Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The headmaster of an Ashram school-Wankidi was suspended following hospitalization of 64 students. An order to this effect was issued by Integrated Tribal Development Officer (ITDA)-Utnoor project officer Khusbu Gupta on Thursday.
The headmaster, Srinivas was placed under suspension for dereliction of duties leading to hospitalization of the students on October 30 and 31. Action was initiated against the headmaster based on findings of a committee formed to probe into the food position due to which 64 students had vomits and diarrhea.
On Tuesday, five staffers of the school including the headmaster Srinivas were transferred. While Srinvas was transferred to a school in Kaghaznagar, Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM) Sevantha, cook Harikishan, workers Kamala and Pentaiah were transferred to different schools in the district.
On October 30, around 50 students fell ill after consuming dinner at the hostel. Fifteen more students were hospitalised the next day.
A total of 63 students were discharged, but the medical condition of Class 9 student, Shailaja, is learnt to be still critical. She is undergoing treatment at NIMS-Hyderabad.
