Hyderabad: A Food Science Laboratory was recently launched at GITAM School of Science with the execution of various products arranged by the students of Food Science and Technology.
Professor Karunakar B, director, GITAM Hyderabad Business School inaugurated the lab in the presence of DVVSR Varma, resident director, Sridhar P, founding director, Kautilya School of Public Policy.
All the visitors from GITAM institutions were screened for Body Mass Index (BMI) besides demonstrating equipment like a lactometer to measure food adulteration and other research equipment for the promotion of the subject.
GITAM School of Science launched a Food Technology course in 2020 as there is an interest in the youth to develop new technology for meeting the demand in the field of Food Science, Storage, Packing and Innovations. Several youngsters have started entrepreneurship in food technology as there is a huge demand for supply of packed food in industries, hospitals and aviation.
