Bronze medallist Sukumar Das not only dreams (whether it is concepts, ideas or making it big) but also brings them to fruition. Sukumar, who believes in himself and lives his life with passion, dreams of things that can help in the overall betterment of the society.
This pucca Hyderabadi had introduced paramotoring and paragliding to the city, which is now a big hit all over Telangana and other States too.
Talking about his journey, the rock climber says, “I have done a hotel management course for one year, but I thought that it was not my cup of tea. And then, I got into riding. I was into Hyderabad Royal Bulleteers group, through which I have travelled all over India.”
Sukumar also introduced Spider-Man kit which is used by people who clean windows and glass walls in skyscrapers. The hit concept is now being used by 500-plus people while they clean the high-rise buildings and also provides comfort and safety to painters and cleaners.
“I believe in giving back to the society. Though I was busy with my work, I always make sure to do something for the society. Being a rider, my biker gang and I used to take road trips for charitable causes and donate the money thus earned to various organisations and flood relief funds,” says the founder of Vertical World Aero Sports and Adventure Pvt Ltd.
Sukumar also brought ‘Building Branding’ concept to the city. “Advertisement hoardings turn out to be quite dangerous in the rainy season, and that made me think of this concept of ‘Building Branding’. There are more than a hundred buildings in the city which got ads on them. We used to create huge stickers and stick them to the building which doesn’t end up being harmful to the people,” says Sukumar, who takes KTR as inspiration.
Sukumar started learning aero sport in 2011, and after completing the course, he took part in a tournament in Nagpur. “I stood as one of the finalists, and later I represented India in Thailand in 2017 and 2018, and won the Bronze Medal for India in 2018.”
He also conducted an event in the sky, titled ‘Akasam Lo Bathukamma’, for the Telangana Formation Day, besides other shows like Siddipet Air Show, She Teams Marathon, and Mysore Dasara Air Show which grabbed a lot of attention.
