Adilabad: Collector Rajarshi Shah clarified that forced ‘unanimous’ elections would not be tolerated. He along with SP Akhil Mahajan addressed mediapersons here on Thursday.
Responding to a query, Shah said that unanimous elections to a gram panchayat by exerting influence would not be tolerated. He warned that action would be taken against those responsible if a panchayat saw unanimous elections being forced. He added that problematic villages were already identified, while steps were being taken to ensure smooth conduct of polls at the villages.
The Collector further said nominations would be received from 10.30 am to 5 pm. He stated that help desks were created to address grievances of people and candidates. Instructions were given to polling staff to strictly enforce Model Code of Conduct. Steps were being taken to prevent liquor and money used to influence voters, he added.
