Hyderabad: An Ivory Coast national was arrested by the Hyderabad police on charges of duping a doctor of Rs 41 lakh on the pretext of purchasing herbal medicines.
The man, Messi Danho Frank, a resident of Delhi and citizen of Ivory Coast, contacted the woman doctor after obtaining her number from an online directory. He introduced himself as James Mario from the United Kingdom and told her he was interested in purchasing the formula for a specific herbal medicine.
“The deal was finalised and in April, he told her that he was transferring Rs 5 crore. Later, some persons called her saying they were from the Reserve Bank of India and collected Rs 41 lakh for clearing the Rs 5 crore transfer,” said Detective Department Joint Commissioner Avinash Mohanty said.
On a complaint, the police booked a case and on Thursday arrested Frank. The police seized a laptop, three mobile phones and 37 ATM cards from him.
