HYDERABAD: Even as many farmers continue to run from pillar to post to get their crop loans waived, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy claimed that the Telangana government had successfully waived loans of 25 lakh farmers spending about Rs 21,000 crore.

He also said that the Telangana government had paid Rs 4,000 crore to the Telangana Road Transport Corporation towards the implementation of the free bus travel scheme for women to date.

Despite many complaints from people over the Congress government’s failure to effectively implement the 200-unit free power supply to households and Rs.500 gas cylinder supply, the Chief Minister stated that 50 lakh families had benefited through the 200-unit power supply and Rs 500 gas cylinder schemes.

Releasing the posters of the Congress party’s Rs 500 gas cylinder and 300 units free supply schemes in New Delhi for the Assembly elections on Thursday, Revanth Reddy said when the Congress party makes a promise to people it would be fulfilled at any cost.

Interestingly, the Congress has roped in Revanth Reddy for the campaign even after the debacle in the Maharashtra polls. That time, when he campaigned for the Congress party as a ‘Star campaigner’, the party had performed pathetically in nine of the 10 constituencies that he campaigned in.

Regarding the revenue sources for implementing the schemes promised to the New Delhi people, the Chief Minister said if corruption was controlled, then enough resources would be available to ensure poor people’s welfare.

The Chief Minister also said the Telangana government was aiming to draw Rs 1 lakh crore investments into the State at the Davos summit this time.
