Hyderabad: Former BRS MP B Vinod Kumar issued a strong rebuttal to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy, accusing them of running a malicious campaign against BRS president and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao over Krishna River water sharing.
In an open letter, Vinod Kumar said Telangana’s case is before the Brijesh Kumar Tribunal only due to the former Chief Minister’s relentless efforts. He reminded that within a month of State formation, Chandrashekhar Rao wrote to the Centre seeking a new tribunal under Section 3 of the Inter-State River Water Disputes Act. “When the Centre failed to act, he moved the Supreme Court, compelling it to constitute a fresh tribunal with revised terms,” he said.
Countering Congress claims that Chandrashekhar Rao agreed to 299 TMCft and deprived Telangana of its rightful share in Krishna River water, the former MP said it was a temporary arrangement in 2015, not a permanent settlement. He cited the former Chief Minister’s letters, Apex Council meeting minutes, KRMB appeals and assurances from the union Jal Shakti Minister as proof. “Repeating this lie is not just political mudslinging, it insults documented facts,” he said.
He reminded that under Congress rule in united Andhra Pradesh, Telangana survived on 299 TMCft despite a combined share of 811 TMCft. “If Congress cared for Telangana, why was a single major project on Krishna River never built in six decades?” he asked. He urged the government to focus on repairing Medigadda, completing Palamuru-Rangareddy and Dindi, and expediting Sitamma Sagar, instead of distorting history and peddling propaganda against Chandrashekhar Rao.
