Hyderabad: Team India crushed England by 10 wickets on Thursday night to take a commanding 2-1 lead in the four-match Test series in Ahmedabad. However, the nature of the Motera pitch has been the topic of discussion since the match has been completed in less than two days.
India, who are now on the verge of qualifying to the World Test Championship if they manage to hold to the 2-1 lead and can draw or win the final Test, ran through the England batting with the help of Axar Patel’s 11-wicket match haul in the pink ball Test.

However, a few players voiced their concerns over the nature of the pitch. Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh too was not happy with the wicket. He took to twitter writing, “Finished in 2 days. Not sure if that’s good for test cricket! If @anilkumble1074 and @harbhajan_singh bowled on these kind of wickets they would be sitting on a thousand and 800? However, congratulations to (India) @akshar2026 what a spell! congratulations @ashwinravi99 @ImIshant.” Meanwhile, Indian captain Virat Kohil defended the pitch and said it was the batsmen who lacked application on a wicket that offered turn.
