Former MLA Konappa vows to contest as Independent if Telangana goes to polls
Koneru Konappa calls upon people to launch a movement to achieve a proposed bridge across the Penganga river at Veerdhandi village, connecting the people of Telangana and Maharashtra
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Former Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa exposed the internal bickering in the Congress by announcing that he would contest as an Independent candidate if Telangana goes for Assembly elections. He made this statement while addressing a gathering at Veerdhandi village Koutala mandal on Friday.
Stating that he had won the Sirpur (T) segment thrice on tickets from various parties, Konappa said that he would decide soon with the support of the public. He announced that he would like to contest as an Independent if Telangana goes to elections in the near future. He refuted the rumours that claimed that he would join the BRS.
The former legislator called the people to launch a movement to achieve a proposed bridge across the Penganga river at Veerdhandi village, connecting the people of Telangana and Maharashtra.
He wanted them to confront the leaders for delaying the bridge. He claimed that he played a vital role in sanctioning the highest agriculture power lines in the State to Koutala mandal, helping the farming sector flourish.
Konappa recalled that a high-level bridge was constructed across the Pranahita river at Gudem village in Chintalamanepalli mandal with the blessings of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, giving rise to the growth of the region and benefiting farmers.
He said that today’s Ministers were ignoring pleas to build bridges despite repeated requests. He released pamphlets narrating development works achieved during his tenure. He requested the public to go through the pamphlets and recognise his role in the segment’s growth.
Having contested the ticket of BRS in the 2023 Assembly elections, Konappa joined the Congress in March after being defeated by the BJP candidate by a slender margin of 2,923 votes.
