Sangareddy: Former MLC and journalist R Satyanarayana (58), who played a key role in the second phase of the Telangana movement, passed away at his home in Sangareddy on Sunday. He was battling a prolonged illness.

Satyanarayana, a close confidante of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, also worked as a member of the Telangana Public Service Commission. Satyanarayana had quit journalism to participate in the Telangana movement.

He had worked as BRS president of the erstwhile Medak district and led the movement from the front in Sangareddy.

Former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said the State lost a true Telangana activist in Satyanarayana.
Rao, who recalled his association with Satyanarayana during the Statehood movement, sent condolence messages to the family of the former MLC.

He said Satyanarayana played a vital role in strengthening the BRS in the erstwhile Medak district besides leaving an indelible mark as a journalist and Telangana activist.
