Khammam: The efforts of former Khammam MP Nama Nageswara Rao have yielded results as the Centre recently sanctioned four Kendriya Vidyalayas to Telangana.
The MP played a significant role in the sanctioning of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), crucial for the development of the education sector after the reorganisation of the districts. He wrote letters and appealed to the Union Human Resource Minister seeking to set up new KVs in Telangana.
As a result the Centre has sanctioned four new KVs, which would be established in Kothagudem, Mulugu, Wanaparthy and Jagtial districts. There are 35 KVs in Telangana State, and with the newly sanctioned KVs, their number reached 39, said a statement from Nageswara Rao’s office.
Out of the 57 new KVs sanctioned across the country, 20 are for districts that did not have KVs so far, 14 are in Aspirational Districts, four are in LWE districts and five are in North Eastern States/hilly areas.
Setting up KV in Kothagudem (Aspirational District) would increase the literacy rate in backward, tribal areas and provide quality education to the children of Central government employees, defence and paramilitary personnel, Heavy Water Plant, NMDC and SCCL workers.
The residents in Kothagudem district thanked the former MP, Nageswara Rao for his continuous efforts to get a KV sanctioned to the district. Many are finding fault with the incumbent MP R Raghuram Reddy’s efforts to claim credit for the work done by Nageswara Rao.
