Hyderabad: The former Sarpanches have demanded the State government to clear the pending bills by November 30 and warned that they would launch hunger strike at Indira Park in the city in December.
As the tenure of Sarpanches elapsed long back, the former Sarpanches also demanded the State government to accommodate them in the Indiramma Committees that have constituted across the State.
The Telangana Sarpanch Sangham held a press conference here on Saturday. Addressing media persons, the Sangham president G Lakshmi Narasimha Reddy said many former Sarpanches had spent their personal money in executing different development works in respective gram panchayats.
“Many are even selling their assets and lands to clear debts. It is high time the State government clear the pending bills and support the Sarpanches,” Lakshmi Narasimha Reddy said.
As the salaries of sanitary workers were pending since long ensuring sanitation in the villages was a task. The saplings that were planted under Haritha Haram were withering due to irregular or no watering, he said.
“We are repeatedly appealing to the officials to clear the pending bills but there is hardly any response,” Lakshmi Narasimha Reddy added.
