Nirmal: Former Telangana Digital Media Director Konatham Dileep, whose arrest was recorded by Nirmal police on Wednesday, was granted bail after being produced before a local court.

His arrest followed detention at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad late on Tuesday night upon his return from the United States. Dileep had travelled to Virginia to attend the launch of a memoir dedicated to his late father, Konatham Bakka Reddy, on May 18. He was taken into custody upon arrival in Hyderabad.

Sources said Dileep was detained in connection with FIR No. 353 of 2025, and subsequently taken to Nirmal for further proceedings. The arrest comes amid allegations that the Revanth Reddy-led government is targeting Dileep for his criticism of the State administration on social media.

Over the past year, around 15 cases have reportedly been filed against him — cases he has consistently described as “illegal” and a form of political harassment for questioning the Congress government’s failures.

Adding to the controversy, a Look Out Circular was previously issued against Dileep. He had challenged the circular in the High Court, which allowed him to travel to the US for a month to attend the family-organized book launch.

The latest arrest is believed to be linked to earlier cases registered at the Khanapur and Kaddampeddur police stations.
