Former Telangana DPH Srinivasa Rao seeks hike in AYUSH doctors’ stipends

Former Telangana DPH Dr G Srinivasa Rao has urged the State government to hike AYUSH doctors’ stipends and clear arrears, citing disparities with allopathy medicos. He also backed the ongoing protest by AYUSH house surgeons and postgraduates at Indira Park.

Hyderabad: Former Director of Public Health (DPH), Telangana, Dr G Srinivasa Rao on Thursday urged the State government to immediately hike stipends of AYUSH doctors amidst rising living costs

Dr Rao, who is a member of Jana Sena Party (JSP) Telangana Medical Wing, also extended support to the ongoing protest fast organized by the Telangana AYUSH House Surgeons and Postgraduates JAC at Indira Park Dharna Chowk. “The stipends for AYSUH doctors have stagnated for more than a decade. There is a stark disparity between the stipends of allopathy and AYUSH medicos. While Allopathy interns receive Rs 29,792, AYUSH house surgeons get only Rs 13,754. Similarly, while Allopathy PGs receive up to Rs 74,782, AYUSH PGs receive a fraction of that amount,” he said.

He demanded the government immediately release a GO to equalize AYUSH stipends with Allopathy counterparts alongside arrears, and establish a ‘Green Channel’ for timely monthly payments.
