Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has again summoned BRS working president KT Rama Rao to appear before it for questioning in connection with the Formula-E race case on Thursday. The ACB officials went to the BRS working president’s residence at Raidurgam on Monday and served the summons.

Following its earlier summons, Rama Rao had reached the ACB office on Monday, but left without entering the office as his lawyer was refused permission to accompany him. He however, submitted a written statement to the ACB officials. Later in the day, the ACB served him the second summons.

Meanwhile, the High Court is likely to pronounce its verdict on Tuesday on the quash petition filed by Rama Rao against the case filed by ACB.

Tuesday is also when he is slated to appear before the Enforcement Directorate. The ED had registered a case against him on December 20, alleging money laundering in making payments to London-based Formula E Operations (FEO) for conducting the Formula E race in Hyderabad. The central agency had also booked senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and retired engineering official of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA), BLN Reddy. The ED is said to be examining alleged violations under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Both Arvind Kumar and Reddy have sought more time from the ED.

According to sources, Rama Rao has written to the ED stating that the Telangana High Court would soon pronounce its verdict on his quash petition against the ACB case on the same issue. He has asked the Central agency for time to appear before it after the verdict was given.
