Formula-E race issue: Telangana ACB books case against KTR, Arvind Kumar

The ACB has listed Rama Rao as Accused No. 1, Arvind Kumar as Accused No. 2, and BLN Reddy as Accused No. 3 in a case involving alleged irregularities of Rs. 55 crore related to the Formula E car race held in Hyderabad in 2023 and its proposed second edition scheduled for February this year. On Tuesday, Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari wrote to the Director-General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), requesting an investigation into the allegations against Rama Rao.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday booked a case against former Minister and BRS working president KT Rama Rao, senior IAS officer Arvind Kumar and retired HMDA Chief Engineer BLN Reddy in connection with the Formula E car race.

The ACB has arraigned Rama Rao as Accused No 1, Arvind Kumar as Accused No 2 and BLN Reddy as Accused No 3 in the case, which is in connection with allegations of irregularities amounting to Rs.55 crore in the Formula E car race held in Hyderabad in 2023 and its second edition that was proposed to be held in February this year. Chief Secretary A. Santhi Kumari on Tuesday wrote to the Director-General, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) asking him to initiate a probe against Rama Rao in connection with the allegations.

The State government had earlier secured Governor Jishnu Dev Varma’s approval on December 12 to prosecute Rama Rao in the case.

The ACB has invoked Sections 13 (1) A, 13 (2) PC Act and 409 and 120B of IPC against Rama Rao and the others. The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of ACB will be investigating the case.
