Karimnagar: Karimnagar rural police arrested four persons involved in the murder of twin girls in Jublinagar of Karimnagar mandal. Besides the girls’ father Kachu Srisailam, grandparents Ashok and Lavanya, and uncle Rakesh were arrested.
Producing the accused before the media at the rural police station here on Monday, Commissioner of Police Gaush Alam said Srisailam, who is a computer operator in a private medical college, married Mounika in 2020 and the couple had twin girls Geetham Sree and Geethanvika in 2022.
Srisailam, who was more interested in having a male child right from the beginning, felt unhappy with the birth of twin daughters. Thinking that Rs 2 crore property was required for the marriage of the girls, he hatched a plan along with his parents Ashok and Lavanya and brother Rakesh to kill his daughters.
According to the plan, on April 3, Srisailam took the girls to his agricultural fields on a motorcycle, asking his wife to stay at home, and threw the children into an agricultural well. While Geetham Sree was battling for life in the water, he jumped into the well and killed her by pushing her further into the water. Moreover, he enacted a drama by raising an alarm, pretending that he was trying to rescue the children.
Suspecting the behaviour of Srisailam, villagers alerted the police. Karimnagar rural police, led by CI Niranjan Reddy, began an investigation by registering a case and arrested the accused in Gopalpur on Sunday. Ashok, Lavanya and Rakesh were also arrested for helping Srisailam.
