Adilabad: Four persons were arrested for allegedly smuggling PDS rice in Utnoor mandal centre on Wednesday night. Police seized 20 quintals of rice worth Rs 40,000 from the four.
Utnoor ASP Kajal Singh, in a statement, said that Nallanna Krishnaiah, Thakur Arun Singh, Thakur Dhara Singh and Gyan Singh, were apprehended while shipping the grains, following a tip-off. They were handed over to Utnoor police for further action.
She warned that stringent action would be taken against those who indulge in the offence.
