Hyderabad: The Saroornagar police on Wednesday arrested four persons, who allegedly thrashed a hotel worker after he allegedly refused to serve them chicken. The victim, Balaji Rathod, was attacked on May 2 and died while undergoing treatment on Sunday.
The arrested persons were P. Mahesh, his brother P. Vijay and two teenagers, all from Bidar in Karnataka and working at the Kothapet fruit market here. Rathod, 23, was working at the Durga Bhavani Hotel in Kothapet.
On May 2 night, the suspects came to the hotel to have food after work and ordered rice and chicken curry. However, Rathod told them that chicken curry was not available.
According to the police, Mahesh followed Rathod into the kitchen and found some chicken curry in a vessel. He picked up an argument with Rathod and abused and threatened him. The hotel owner and other staff had to intervene and pacify them. The group then left the place, but only to return late at night and attack Rathod.
They thrashed him and also hit him with a boulder. Rathod was immediately shifted to a local hospital, from where he was shifted to a hospital in Bidar, where he died on Sunday.
The Saroornagar police who booked a case of attempt to murder altered it to that of murder and identified and nabbed the suspects with the help of CCTV footage.
