Hyderabad: A four-day training program on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) under the auspices of Mythri Hospital, Mehdipatnam was inaugurated by Hyderabad Police Commissioner, CV Anand here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Anand said a total of 1248 Hyderabad city police officers and personnel will participate in the second phase of the 4-day training.

They will be segregated into 15 batches and each batch will be trained for 90 minutes. “This is an important program that will be useful not only for police personnel but also for the general public,” he said.

According to a survey, 98% of Indian population is still not trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures. It is a very crucial and basic method to save lives in emergency situations, he added. Other countries like America, Japan, Singapore and European countries have made CPR mandatory in their education system.

Anand requested the hospital authorities to provide CPR training to all the 16,000 police officers and personnel in Hyderabad.
