Kothagudem: Four militia members of the CPI (Maoist) were arrested by the police at R Kothagudem village of Cherla mandal in the district on Friday.
The arrested were identified as Madivi Chittibabu, Madivi Kannaiah, Irpa Balakrishna and Madivi Balakrishna. They were all residents of Bodenelli village of Cherla mandal and working as militia members for the past one year.
They were taken into custody during vehicle inspections by Cherla police, Special party men and CRPF 141 Bn A Coy force at the village. During interrogation they revealed their identity. The police recovered nearly 20 metres of olive green cloth material from them.
Sources said three days ago, the militia members were summoned to Chhattisgarh border by the Maoists. They were tasked to buy olive green cloth for which they were given Rs 8,000. They four were arrested while going to their village after buying the cloth at Bhadrachalam.
