Kothagudem: Police arrested four militia members of the CPI (Maoist) in Cherla in the district on Tuesday.
Bhadrachalam ASP Vineeth G, speaking to media persons at Cherla, said during combing operations in the forest area between the villages of Veerapuram-Korakatpadu, a police team spotted the militia members and arrested four of them after a chase.
The arrested were identified as Madakam Ungaiah of Ramachandrapuram village Kunjam Adamaiah of Kistarampadu village, Ravva Mangaiah of Bakkachintalapadu village and Musaki Inga of Veerapuram village in Charla mandal.
They along with few others were serving in the Cherla area militia committee under the leadership of Commander Balu alias Vetti Deva. The four were involved in violence in Cherla police station limits, the ASP said.
CRPF 141Bn Commandant Hari Om Kare, Cherla Inspector Boddu Ashok, Sub-Inspector T Venkatappaiah and others were present.
